Open House: FM 521 from FM 2234 to SH 6

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Houston District, will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed widening of FM 521 from FM 2234 to SH 6, in Fort Bend County, Texas. The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 28 at the Lula Belle Goodman Elementary School Cafeteria, 1100 West Sycamore Rd., Fresno, TX 77545. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No formal presentation will be made.

The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The project proposes to widen the FM 521 roadway from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided facility. Directions of travel would be separated by a raised median. Turn lanes would be provided at various locations. A sidewalk would be constructed on the east side of the roadway. The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce congestion and enhance safety by accommodating traffic
volumes. An overpass at Broadway Street is being considered to further accommodate projected traffic volumes. It is anticipated that additional right-of-way would be needed to accommodate proposed improvements near Broadway Street. No displacements are anticipated to occur as a result of the proposed project.

Maps showing the proposed project’s location and design drawings will be available for review at the public meeting, and online at: txdot.gov/inside-txdot/get-involved/about/hearingsmeetings.
